MINGLE | WEEK THREE

MINGLE LOG | WEEK 3
Locations | Rooming | Full Nav

Another week gone, and with it, two of your number. Nine of you--or ten, depending on whom you count as yours--are dead. And still, there is no escape.

Pratibha won't turn up on her own this week, but you may be able to reach her if you try. For some reason, she seems particularly scarce every day but Thursday.

Sunday arrives this time with no mysteriously provided gifts, but if you gather together anyway, perhaps you'll find your spirits lifted by a sense of presence?

[cw: hallucinations]
On Monday morning, the house's next attempt to force you all to murder is not necessarily immediately apparent. As the day creeps on, you might catch a flicker of something from the corner of your eye, or hear a murmur when you're sure you're alone. Maybe Anemone was right to worry about losing your minds.

((Mod note: If you don't want to play with this particular motive, let us know! Like Week 1's blot motive, we've provided temporary IC outs in the motive announcement under Monday's header, and you should ALWAYS choose OOCly not to engage with something that isn't right for you, for whatever reason.))

Whatever your mental state, the house's dread ritual continues on. Those solving Tuesday's puzzle will actually find they have a couple days to complete it; once they find all the clues, they're welcome to ask their fellow living housemates for help actually making use of them. Solving the puzzle completely earns you the key to an indoor pool, though the stiff cover over the jacuzzi remains locked tight.

Pool party on Wednesday, anyone? No? It's fine; the day is yours to do with what you will.

Starting Thursday's puzzle requires that all parts of Tuesday's be completed, and once you're done, you can have yourselves a cozy, lovely dinner party. If you're up to it, anyway. If not, you'll also have the key to that jacuzzi, so soak those troubles away with hot water and jets.

Friday is investigation time once again. The investigation post will go live at 3 PM EST, 5/23.

Saturday is the day of your third real ritual. You may find the ritual post here at 12 PM EST, 5/24.

Sunday | Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday

Luis actually laughs, at that. And, well, Leon hasn't moved his arm. So Luis reaches out and puts a hand on Leon's knee.

"You can probably imagine, I learned what not to do a lot better than what to do. Saddler was... Well, he had a very specific idea of how to do a team-building exercise, eh?" he jokes.

The hand on his knee has Leon going just the slightest bit stiff for a moment before he eases into it, more surprised than anything else. Coming from anyone else here he'd probably mind a lot more, but here and now it only seems fair.

"What, not into the religiously loaded pep-talks and mind control injections?" he laughs, a small part of him marveling at the fact that they can have this conversation now. Joke about it, like it's some distant memory. How long ago was it, really? Not even a month.

"Sometimes I think the main reason the US government doesn't do something similar to their agents is that they're afraid of the scandal now. Wouldn't look great for their hardline anti-BOW stance, these days."

"Besides, your presidents are not much for the long, flowing robes, eh? I don't think all those tentacles would hide so well under a suit," he jokes. He may not have seen Saddler's final form, but he saw enough of his regular-ass, normal form for one lifetime.

"Is that what you are? Some kind of American James Bond?" he asks, after a beat. "It would explain a lot, like why your legs are such deadly weapons," he teases, while still having his hand on Leon's knee.

"Not unless the conspiracy theorists are right about what they all do behind closed doors," Leon jokes, even as he's painfully aware of how much of his life is wrapped up in keeping the government's secrets hidden. "And nothing quite that glamorous, but close enough. What did you think I was doing, in Valdelobos, though? Sightseeing?"

It does occur to Leon suddenly that he never actually told Luis who exactly Ashley was. But he had to have known, didn't he? Or did he fall out with Los Illuminados before news of their big plan could spread to him? He hadn't thought about it that hard, before now.

"You were there to rescue Ashley, yes?" Ashley is the priority. It occurs to him then how little he knows about la princesa.

"I could guess your military training, but I thought maybe you were some kind of a mercenary. Just figured her parents must have some very deep pockets, to hire a soldier to send into hell for her."

Leon raises his eyebrows, pulling back just a bit to look at Luis.

“Huh. You really didn’t know, did you? Ashley’s father is Edward Graham. As in, the current US President.” He probably doesn’t have to add that part, but he does, for emphasis. “Luis, I’m pretty sure you averted an international incident by getting us out of there.”

There’s no telling what would’ve happened if Saddler’s plan had worked or Ashley had died, but it definitely wouldn’t have been good.
