MINGLE | WEEK ONE

MINGLE LOG | WEEK 1
Premise | Rooming | Full Nav
Greetings, house guests. You must be a little more familiar with how things work around here now. There is no escape.
One thing does seem to have changed: characters can now freely investigate the now unlocked Crypt.
On Sunday, nothing much at all happens. Better take the time to rest, recuperate, and decide your next steps. Maybe you have people you want to talk to after that … shit show? Now’s the time: unload those feelings.
Alternatively, with the pantry open with plenty of food available, why not wander into the kitchen for a snack and a chat with whoever is there?
(Don't forget to check out the post-trial afterparty!)
Come Monday, everyone will make up to a most unpleasant surprise: their motive for the week.
Unfortunately for those characters with questions about the motive, Pratibha is nowhere to be found afterwards. Additionally, all the profile entries for Leona, Phoenix, and Yoojin have changed. It’s a fairly clear indicator that they are dead. Enjoy this useful information!
On Tuesday, there are two noticeable changes. The first is that there is a new puzzle. The second thing? Pratibha’s presence. She's finally back. Why was she missing on Sunday and Monday? Why does she seem so … out of it? She’s all curled up in the laundry room this time, intermittently snoozing in the little nook off to one side.
On Wednesday, Pratibha is gone again. And so, unfortunately, is one of your own. What happened? Who is it? All subsequent headers, including Wednesday's, will be frozen until a Wednesday event can take place. We will announce to the playerbase once Wednesday's thread is live for you to investigate!
Thursday brings a very specific change: after 9 PM, no one get into, or
Thursday also brings with it another new puzzle.
Friday is investigation time The investigation post will go live at 3 PM EST, 5/9.
Saturday is the day of your “first” real ritual. You may find the ritual post here at 12 PM EST, 5/10.
[cw: emeto]
That way.
[ she’ll point towards the greenhouse. Drawn, you’ll look—
—and when you look back, she’s gone.
So what’s in there?
A body, thats’s what. Since it’s a small corpse curled all the way towards a back corner, with no dramatic pool of blood to mark the spot, you might not see it at first—but it’s not like the jade green of that top actually blends in that well with the surrounding plants. Traces of vomit line her mouth; they are stained a deep purple color, like the berries that have tumbled out of her stiff, tiny hand.
The expression on her face is both incredulous and thrilled, as though dying by ingesting poison was her lifelong dream. It's a death befitting a freak apothecary, all things told.
Maomao is dead.
You might want to toss that berry bush.]

But then one of her roomies turns up dead with no warning. ]
Uh... Do we have to investigate this...?
[ Glancing around. ]
Does Maomao eating death berries need to have a trial?!
no subject
She offed herself, so no.
CW: Emeto...?
[ AWKWARD THUMBS UP! Now she has to go draw another portrait for the memorial, and THIS ONE is gonna be Maomao drooling poison or some edgy vent art like that. ]

dont worry, it'll be a controlled fire, he won't burn down the whole greenhouse today.]

He puts a hand on Yuri's arm to get her attention.]
Let's go.

A- ah, r- right...
[Yuri will follow Luis on out.]

At least she's taught us something important about these berries...
[Jade is crushing the few he can see on the ground with his foot lest someone else get any ideas of what to do with them.]
cw: starvation mention
[Tone is so fucking flat. Ranma's face is glued to his palm, and it hadn't left since learning Maomao WILLINGLY gulped down poison berries for the heck of it.]
Who in their right mind just eats random berries without knowin' if they're safe? That's like basic survival 101!
[Foraging for food in woods and forests in his childhood, Ranma had it browbeaten into his head to never eat berries he don't know are safe... and had to stop his father, the very man who taught him that, from emptying a bush of toxic berries in a starvation-fueled haze months later after that lesson. Old man was never good at adhering to his own guidelines.]

[It doesn't look like those berries' toxin took her out in a particularly pleasant way, but the smile that curves her mouth nevertheless... well, it sure says something about the person Maomao is. Was.]
...I'm going back to my room.
cw: disordered/dangerous eating
I can understand wanting to find out, I've been there myself many times. But generally one doesn't consume to the point of... well... this. From the looks of it she ate far more than a single berry. Which I would think someone trying to determine how poisonous something is or isn't would restrict themselves to.
[He shakes his head with some pity in the gesture.]
Perhaps we should move her somewhere less conspicuous? She may have brought it on herself but we are still civilized people and we can't simply leave a corpse out like this.
no subject
Another one?! Are you f...
[He trails off into frustrated gripes and curses under his breath, staring at the unfamiliar teenage girl laying there. Can't people stop dying every two days?!?!?! What the hell was she trying to accomplish, mithridatism????]
no subject
...
He closes his eyes. Shakes his head.]
no subject
Really? Poison berries? Did anyone else know they were?
no subject
[The thought had crossed his mind, but it does seem like they have enough safe food for the moment that it's not worth risk.]
no subject
[ She knows the rules; they have to kill. The rules don't say they can't choose themselves, or possibly decide things democratically...? ]
no subject
...Mr. Edgeworth's suggestion is seeming more prescient than ever...

Do you have any ideas on how to destroy harmful flora? Setting fires doesn't seem especially wise, and it's not as though we can put them out with the trash.

octavia just looks to see how it happened and whether it was an accident or not, she looks entirely unimpressed] Seriously? I guess we really did have someone dumb enough eat poison berries. [ maybe that was a bit harsh but she can't help but judge because they already had the potential threat of murder being in this house so checking what you eat to make sure it's safe? that's just basic earth skills ]

Knew she was gonna be next.
[Gavin says this with his arms crossed. Expression mostly blank as he stares down at the body. Is that a flicker of uncertainty? Surely not.
Regardless, Gavin is full of shit, as per usual. He knew Maomao was weird, but enough for all this? No.]

cw being flippant about suicide
Hmph. I suppose that's one way out of here.

Enjoy the bump on the head Edgey, courtesy of Ranma smacking the back of it.]
Show a little respect for the dead, jackass. [Giving him the mother of all stink eyes.]
