MINGLE | WEEK ONE

MINGLE LOG | WEEK 1
Premise | Rooming | Full Nav
Greetings, house guests. You must be a little more familiar with how things work around here now. There is no escape.
One thing does seem to have changed: characters can now freely investigate the now unlocked Crypt.
On Sunday, nothing much at all happens. Better take the time to rest, recuperate, and decide your next steps. Maybe you have people you want to talk to after that … shit show? Now’s the time: unload those feelings.
Alternatively, with the pantry open with plenty of food available, why not wander into the kitchen for a snack and a chat with whoever is there?
(Don't forget to check out the post-trial afterparty!)
Come Monday, everyone will make up to a most unpleasant surprise: their motive for the week.
Unfortunately for those characters with questions about the motive, Pratibha is nowhere to be found afterwards. Additionally, all the profile entries for Leona, Phoenix, and Yoojin have changed. It’s a fairly clear indicator that they are dead. Enjoy this useful information!
On Tuesday, there are two noticeable changes. The first is that there is a new puzzle. The second thing? Pratibha’s presence. She's finally back. Why was she missing on Sunday and Monday? Why does she seem so … out of it? She’s all curled up in the laundry room this time, intermittently snoozing in the little nook off to one side.
On Wednesday, Pratibha is gone again. And so, unfortunately, is one of your own. What happened? Who is it? All subsequent headers, including Wednesday's, will be frozen until a Wednesday event can take place. We will announce to the playerbase once Wednesday's thread is live for you to investigate!
Thursday brings a very specific change: after 9 PM, no one get into, or
Thursday also brings with it another new puzzle.
Friday is investigation time The investigation post will go live at 3 PM EST, 5/9.
Saturday is the day of your “first” real ritual. You may find the ritual post here at 12 PM EST, 5/10.
Dining Room
It's not fair to her, he's aware, and he doesn't feel great about it. So when he passes by the dining room and sees her doing something to the paintings in there, he makes himself stop instead of hurrying by. ]
... Oh. Did you draw these? [ He gestures to the new portraits. Yoojin. Phoenix. Leona. All immediately recognizable. ]
Re: Dining Room
Yeah. I thought it would be a good idea to put something up so we can at least... Kinda respect the dead?
no subject
...Yeah. Not like we can do proper funerals here, like this. [ He sighs, then looks over at Zoe. ] This is... really nice of you. Stuff like this is important.

These are good. Remind me a bit of some of the shows one of my friends used to watch. [ Maybe still watches, for all he knows. He hasn't seen Sherry in a long time, now, but he hopes wherever she is they're letting her still be a kid and not some science experiment. ] You do a lot of drawing, back where you came from?
[ Her profile said she was some kind of writer, if he remembers right, but it's not like people can't have multiple hobbies and talents. ]

[ Hey, she wants to expand her fandom horizons a bit. What's the harm in indulding in a canon from another world? ]
Yep. I do a bit of writing and comic making too.

[ Leon is from 2004 and has seen one anime in his entire life. He thinks it over for a moment before giving up - it was six years ago and he was very distracted trying to look after a recently orphaned twelve year old, his memory for the details of what she'd been watching are not the strongest. ]
Anyway, that's pretty cool. I've never been much of an artistic type myself, so this stuff is always impressive to me. You got any favorite subjects?
possible CW: slavery???
[ That is not a funny way to say it. There is a video game about young monsters capturing and training various stylized humans. But no one's asking for an explanation yet so Zoe's gonna move on. ]
Uh... It's more like I'm mostly inspired by stuff I've watched, played, or read. You know, fan work. But I write a lot of shipfics so I guess romance might be a fav?
I'd show you my stuff if I had my other journals from home with me.

[ Sounds about right? He does feel a little bad about not remembering - Sherry had tried pretty hard to tell him all about it, but he'd had a lot on his mind at the time. Either way, he looks kind of confused by the concept of what Zoe is describing, here. ]
Hhhhuh. You mean like... adaptations of existing stuff? Like how there's dozens of versions of Sherlock Holmes or King Arthur or Shakespeare plays or whatever?

Kinda like how I used to wonder what it'd be like if all the guys from my favorite movies teamed up, as a kid. Just with more follow-through on actually making it happen. Huh. Didn't know there were whole websites just for that.
[ He seems a little confused by the notion, but mostly impressed. ]
Sounds like fun. You must do a lot of reading and watching stuff for inspiration, then.

[ She's taking it as a win. ]
I sure do! Wait until you hear about the research that goes into some of these things. I end up asking so many people so many things when the canon leaves a plot hole or the Wiki just doesn't have enough material.

I could see that. You wanna be accurate about some kinds of stuff as a writer, otherwise it can get really jarring. I don't think it was a fan work, but I remember trying to read They Killed Him when it came out, and I couldn't get past how the author kept talking about the bad guy 'cocking' his gun when two pages ago he'd called it a Glock.
no subject
[ Time for her to take a moment to think about guns. Because she definitely has seen guns over her many, many eons of existence, but had never had to think of specifics. ]
Wait, why can't you cock a Glock?
no subject
[ He shrugs, having missed that that was a rhetorical question. ]
Glocks don't have hammers. [ he says, like it's common knowledge before his brain catches up with him and he remembers that not everyone has spent absurd amounts of time taking guns apart and putting them back together. ] Uh. The long and short of it is that all Glocks are striker-fired, as opposed to hammer-fired. The hammer's the bit you pull back to cock a gun if it has one - the rough equivalent for a striker-firing gun would be to rack it instead, though it's not quite the same thing. You don't have to do it between every shot, for one thing, just after a new magazine is loaded or if you've got a malfunction, basically.
[ If any of this is technically wrong - no it isn't, please just assume that's how it works in Resident Evil. I'm doing my best. Anyway, Leon looks like he could go on, but is forcing himself to stop there with some amount of effort. For some reason people get bored when he talks about guns for too long. ]
